New Leaf Foundation (NLF) is a faith-inspired, non-governmental organisation registered as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in the United States with a mission office in Nigeria and programme partnerships in Kenya. Founded with the conviction that no life is beyond redemption, NLF bridges the gap between incarceration and successful reintegration by equipping inmates with vocational skills, digital competencies, spiritual formation, and community support systems that are essential for a sustainable and productive life after release.
Operating across three continents — North America, West Africa, and East Africa — New Leaf Foundation is uniquely positioned to address the complex challenges of prison reform, inmate welfare, and post-release support from a holistic perspective that combines practical skills training with faith- based transformation and community advocacy.
Vocational and digital skills training programs delivered inside correctional facilities. Inmates are equipped with certified, market-ready skills covering trades, technology, and entrepreneurship. Current active programs include: Digital Skills (Nigeria), Tie & Dye, Barbering, Painting, Shoe Making, Soap Making, Solar Installation, and Masonry.
Comprehensive re-entry support for inmates nearing release, particularly those serving minor sentences. Our re-entry program includes life skills coaching, legal aid access, job placement assistance, family reconnection support, and post-release follow-up mentorship to reduce recidivism and ensure successful community reintegration.
Two powerful faith-based transformation programs operating across our African centres — the New Leaf Prison Fellowship Academy (Kenya) offering deep spiritual formation and discipleship for inmates, and the New Leaf Leadership Academy (Kenya), equipping emerging faith leaders from within prison walls to become community builders upon release.
